I have been a horse crazy little girl for most of my life. I began my equine career in 1985 when I was six years old. My earliest recollections of horses are from visiting my great-grandfather's Standardbred farm.
I began riding with Joy Spencer of Joydale Morgan Farm, which is where my first horse Sparky was born. I took jumping lessons with Chelise Storace of Cressbrook Stable when she was located in Straham, NH, and then went on to ride in college at the University of New Hampshire with Janet Briggs. I took summer dressage lessons in college on Lusitano stallions with Vitor Silva of Sons of the Wind when he was located in Deerfield, NH.
I have been lucky enough to ride in clinics with Steuart Pittman, Linda Zang, Lendon Gray, Heather Blitz, Chris Lombard, Gwyneth McPherson, and Jennifer Wilson-Horr. I currently take dressage lessons with Judy Thibeau of Little Moon Farm in Limington, ME.

During my senior year of high school, my father warned me to "get a real job" so I could support my horsey habit. :) I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2001 with a BA in English Teaching and a minor in Equine Studies. I was granted early acceptance to graduate school at UNH and graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English in 2003. I taught in special education at my alma mater Kennebunk High School during my first year of grad school, and then 10th grade English at Noble High School in North Berwick, ME for my full year teaching internship.
After receiving my masters degree, I got that first "real job" at Windham High School, teaching freshman and sophomores. I was married and my son was born before the end of that school year; because my son was born 10 weeks premature in May 2004, I made the decision to put my teaching career on hold for a while. I stayed home for four years which was one of the best things I have ever done! I went back to teaching in 2008 at my husband's alma mater Sacopee Valley High School. I teach English 12 and AP Literature here in "The Valley" and I love it!

Other than horses, I enjoy reading and writing (of course). I also like to scrapbook when I have the time. I like being outdoors, at my dad's camp on Southeast Pond or at the beaches in Kennebunk where I grew up. I have a wonderful family and other pets besides the horses. I also have a fabulously awesome 2009 GMC 2500HD truck that I adore! LOL! :D
